Design and features

THE vankyo Performance V600 Mini Movie Projector is beautifully assembled with everything you need to start in a well-designed set. Take, for example, the carrying cover. It’s actually a well-designed kit, as opposed to an afterthought.

There is a pocket on the front of the bag and a second mesh pocket inside to manage your accessories.

It also includes a thick lens cover to prevent notches and scratches.

You have many options for connectivity. The rear panel has a VGA port, 2 HDMI ports, and 2 USB ports. The side panel also has an SD card slot and AV connector. and HDMI and AV cables are included, so you can connect to any device directly from the box. Unless you plan to use an iPhone, which covers you will have to buy a lightning to HDMI cable.

A control panel at the top of the back of the device allows you to manage all your functions, but I like the remote control included for this. It has some extra features like volume control, fast forward/backward, and mute that will keep you from pecking in the menus.

Did I say volume control? Yes, I did! This projector has an integrated 5w speaker system. In fact, we found that the sound quality was right for what it is. If you take your audio seriously, you should install external speakers for high-quality stereo sound. But if you want to make a presentation and run a video, or simply do not have other options available, the speakers are good enough to do the job with a certain depth of sound and range.

Their image controls are old-school dials that I like. The focusing wheel allows you to accurately compose the image sharpness based on the projection depth, while you can change the image by adjusting the cornerstone so as not to get this strange trapezoidal frame when projecting from a strange angle. I find it much easier to manage than digital controls.

The height control is not found a little. They have a small foot under the device with a short range of motion. You want to check a stand or other options when trying to get an exact position on it.

I will not drag you through all the details of playing your media, but there is no need to worry. Configuration and operation are really simple. Choose your source to get there. The AV and HDMI ports go directly to the projection when the source is connected, otherwise, you will get a simple menu to navigate and select your media after selecting your source. Then select the folder and file accordingly.

The quality of the projection is clear and sharp, even in a fully lit room; my son left his monitor for this like his Xbox one platform… and he’s a tough guy. You get a little color wash as you would expect with the extra light sources, but the quality is still very good.

We then switched to Netflix via my son’s Xbox One (HDMI input) to watch a little movie from friends about a Nordic god and his big green friend. The color saturation and depth are simply stunning.

Final considerations

I do not pretend to be an audiovisual expert, but I like the mini-film projector VANKYO Performance V600. Easy to connect and play, excellent video quality and compatibility with any device make it a projector worth visiting for personal and business use. And the price is fantastic for the quality. Highly recommended.
